The Front of Yonge Township is our local municipality. It is our testing ground. It is our learning facility.

We can try things here — and emphasize what works; while discarding what doesn’t.

The objective is to set an example for other communities. Working together — and learning from each other — is how we all win this Class War that the 1% has started against us.

We all share the same goals. That is the common ground we all stand together on.

Bringing our neighbors together in our community. And have the complete faith that they will get every single issue right from there. The power of democracy belongs to us.

Those are not just words. They are an action — and we are demonstrating that action right here in our own township. We are bringing our democratic power to our town hall.

The outcome will be us — neighbors standing with each other — building our community ourselves. That is the promise of democracy. That is the promise of community.

FRONT OF YONGE TOWNSHIP

We live in the Front of Yonge Township in Eastern Ontario Canada. It’s a small rural community of 2,595 people.

We have a Town Council consisting of a mayor and four at-large councillors. Each of those positions is part-time.

Elections are every 4-years. The next one is on October 26, 2026.

In the last two elections, there really weren’t any elections because they were all acclaimed — nobody ran against them.

Those are the basics of Front of Yonge Township.

BRINGING DEMOCRACY TO FRONT OF YONGE TOWNSHIP

We have talked with many of our neighbors. The vast majority of them believe that our overall system of governance is the vast majority of them believe that our system of governance is not functioning for us. The level of trust in not only the government, but in the institutions, the media and the corporations is at rock bottom low levels.

That is a consensus!!! A majority consensus. And we all share it.

We also believe that if we put all the power into the hands of the people — the people will get everything right from there.

So, we are taking a few steps to pick up the power of democracy right here in our community.

1. This website is the platform for a new tool that embraces the power of democracy directly into a local community. Our first action is to make the choice to adopt it.
2. We now have to get our local Town Council to formally accept our demand. On December 15th, we delivered a deputation to our Town Council formally requesting them to adopt it.
3. As of today, our Town Council has refused our demand; so we are prepared to take the next steps accordingly.
4. We are putting together a full slate of local candidates to compete in the next election. One mayor; four councillors. People chosen from among ourselves.
5. We have only one platform issue: To put all the power into the hands of the people — our neighbors. We have the full faith that our neighbors will make the right decision on every single other issue. Because together is how democracy builds our community.
6. We will campaign. As we knock on the doors of our neighbors we will be encouraging them to vote for our full slate of candidates PLUS we will encourage them to register on the OurTownHall.Org platform. We will bring our community together and elevate every one of their voices.

We are setting an example. We are the test site. We will learn what works and what doesn’t.
And we will be happy to share that experience with others who want to elevate the power of democracy in their own communities.

We will all learn together and from each other. That is the power of democracy.

We are putting the power of democracy into action. The outcome will be a community that comes alive. That is the promise of community.
